Jenni Falconer is a regular face on the start line of the London Marathon, and is one of those runners who looks like she relishes every single mile.
But, while she was always sporty at school, her enthusiasm for running hasn’t been a constant. “When I went off to university in Leeds, I also started working in television and was commuting back and forth to Glasgow. With that and all the partying, I had very little time to exercise and put on quite a bit of weight. As only mums can, my mum took me aside one day and told me I’d put on too much – I’m size 8-10 and had gone up to a 16 – and I was actually really appreciative of her honesty.”
