SOUTHSEA SCORCHER
BATHED IN SUNSHINE, THIS YEAR’S SIMPLYHEALTH GREAT SOUTH RUN WAS A CRACKING DAY OUT
WORDS: TINA CHANTREY
Some 20,000 runners lined up in Portsmouth, a sea of colourful tops, for this year’s Simplyhealth Great South Run (GSR). Starting on Clarence Esplanade, in this naval city, 10 miles of flat city roads stretched out ahead of them.
The weather was perfect, even a little warm for some, with the sun shining and no wind to contend with. With no threat of a headwind to turn in to during the last two miles of the course, runners were relaxed and in a party mood.
