Your Family History magazine is aimed at anyone who is interested in family history, and also history in general.
‘We have articles aimed at those beginning their family history journey, but also regular features for those with a lot more experience, who are looking beyond the basics,’ said editor Nell Darby. ‘We cover family history, social history, criminal history, military history, and even tech news – but it has to relate back to family history in terms of being able to help family historians with their archival or background research.’
Your Family History was formerly known as Your Family Tree. ‘Our recent name change reflects the fact that we want to encourage a broader history feel to the magazine – yet one that still relates back to family history,’ said Nell. ‘Recently, we’ve looked at the history of the British film industry, to help with research into film-working family members; we’ve looked at the history of fashion to see how our ancestors may have dressed; but we’ve also run cover features on more specific archival-based topics, from the 1939 Register to personal diaries.’
