Five of the six books shortlisted for the UK’s Wolfson History Prize cover international history this year. The sixth is Hallie Rubenhold’s celebrated exploration of the lives of Jack the Ripper’s victims.
The shortlist announcement comes as historical non-fiction sees a 14% uplift in sales over the past five years, with world history experiencing phenomenal growth, nearly doubling (up 92%) since 2015, according to new data from Nielsen Book.
