You will need
• Simplicity pattern 1480, View A •scissors 450cm fabric for cushion front •50cm fabric for contrast sides and back •pins •sewing machine •dressmaker’s scissors •80cm braided trim (optional) •2.1m 6mm lipped piping or twisted cord (optional) 4polyester stuffing •closed-ended zip (optional) •eight small buttons (optional)
1 Begin by preparing your pattern. This project uses View A of Simplicity 1480. Unfold the pattern paper carefully and cut out all of the View A pieces, then pin them to your chosen fabrics. Cut the fabric pieces out using sharp dressmaker’s scissors. If you want to ensure you can reuse the pattern again and again, copy each pattern piece onto sheets of stiffer paper, which will last longer than the thin tissue used to make sewing patterns.
