The Lumix G97 can also be purchased with a 12-60mm F3.5-5.6 kit lens, now available for pre-order at £799/$848.

1 LUMIX G97

Hybrid camera for stills and video follows the G90/G95. It has a 20.3MP Micro Four Thirds sensor and 49-point contrast detection autofocus.

The TZ99/ZS99 looks to challenge the dominance of smartphones as the choice for casual shooting.

2 LUMIX TZ99

New point-and-shoot compact has a 24-720mm Leica lens with 30x optical zoom for maximum versatility.

New cameras from Lumix

Panasonic launches the G97, a new Micro Four Thirds mirrorless, and the TZ99, a point-and-shoot compact with a 30x optical zoom ideal for taking on holidays

With much of the same technology as found inside the Lumix G95 from 2019, including the same sensor and stabilisation system, the G97 is a hybrid Micro Four Thirds camera designed for both “simplicity and affordability”. Featuring a 20.3MP sensor and 4K video with no pre-set recording limit, the G97 continues with a 49-point contrast detection autofocus system. Relatively few changes have been made from the previous model, although the G97 does benefit from a USB-C port and Bluetooth 5.0. The rear LCD also sees a slight jump in resolution, to 1.84 million dots, while remaining an articulating unit. Panasonic has also launched the Lumix TZ99, a new point-and-shoot camera that should be ideal for travel photography. Complementing its sleek design, the TZ99’s specification includes a 20.3MP 1/2.3-inch MOS sensor, a versatile 24-720mm Leica lens and a 30x optical zoom that will cover landscapes, family snaps and holiday wildlife shots. 5-axis Hybrid OIS takes care of stabilisation on the new camera, also known as the ZS99 in the US. www.panasonic.com; £899/$850 (G97, body only), £469/$498 (TZ99/ZS99)
