Work in monochrome
Simplify through the tones you select in your captures
Many minimalist photographers work in monochrome, whether it’s black-and-white or compositions that only include one or two colours. Minimal photography is all about simple, impactful compositions, so keeping the image to just two tones helps to streamline things and draws focus into the subject.
The absence of numerous colours and tones in monochrome imagery highlights specific shapes, as well as emphasising textures and patterns in your imagery – especially when those tones are high-contrast. Monochrome images do not have the complexity of full-colour photographs, so the focus remains entirely on the subject and the simplicity of the scene.
