ROBBIE WILLIAMS – HEAVY ENTERTAINMENT SHOW
Yes, Mr Williams is back to entertain us again with his seventh solo album. He reunites with producer/songwriter Guy Chambers, the man who concocted all Robbie’s biggest hits. After a bust-up Robbie went elsewhere for musical help and the hits dried up. Now, thanks to rehab and making amends, they’re back on good terms and have asked another former addict, Rufus Wainwright, to sprinkle fairy dust on a few tracks. The two even duet on Hotel Crazy. While the long awaited reunion of Robbie and Kylie is M.I.A., Ed Sheeran, Jewel and John Grant punch up the Heavy hitters. “I was musing over the phrase ‘light entertainment’ – all the huge TV shows from when I was a kid, with 30 million people watching this shared experience of moments called light entertainment,” Robbie told DNA. “That’s what I’m hoping to do with this album – have a shared experience with millions of people though the medium of light entertainment but on steroids.” Heavy stuff, indeed.
Robbie: Heavy on with light entertainment!
GEORGE MICHAEL – LISTEN WITHOUT PREJUDICE VOL. 1
In these days where playlists are more important than albums it’s easy to understand why George decided to re-release his 1990 Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 album as part of a deluxe boxset along with his 1996 MTV Unplugged performance. It’s the album where, some 20 years before Sia got the idea, George threw a star tantrum and refused to do interviews, photographs or appear in his videos. Still, there were the classic hits Praying For Time (written for his then-secret partner Anselmo dying of AIDS) and Freedom ’90 (the video filled with supermodels). 2016 is a busy time for George with Freedom, a new doco about the making of this album, which he narrates, just released. Listen and love again.
