Feature by ALAN BARNES
On being appointed script editor of Doctor Who in 1987, Andrew Cartmel soon made his presence felt. More often than not, the newly regenerated Seventh Doctor wouldn’t be making random landings in time and space. Usually, The Doctor’s on a Mission from the start – as in The Greatest Show in the Galaxy (198889), in which he follows a junkmail robot to the Psychic Circus on Segonax. “I’m sure the Psychic Circus isn’t scary at all,” he assures companion Ace. “It’s just a device to get us to go…”
Ace is accosted by the Chief Clown (Ian Reddington) in The Greatest Show in the Galaxy (1988-89).
