■ LAST SUMMER, eschewing the bustle of Central London for the tranquillity of rural Berkshire, the embroiderer Ekta Kaul packed up and transpor ted her studio from Cockpit Arts in Bloomsbury to a space in The Coach House at Yeldhall Manor.
‘I’d stopped working at Cockpit during the pandemic and, having two small children and no childcare, started doing so from home. For a time, this really worked, but I did miss having creative people around me.When it was possible to return to my studio, I realised that I was spending over two hours commuting there and back.’
