Evan Green (Dan Stevens) presents his show; Getting ready to broadcast from his “insane” mansion;
THE BLUEPRINT
Stevens had cooked up an early version of his character —a popular American political broadcaster —ahead of joining the conspiracytheory-fuelled show. “In-between characters that I’m asked to play, sometimes —from global events [to] someone I’ve seen or something I’ve watched —a character will form in my mind,” he tells Empire. Having grown up on cable news, he’s become fascinated by the social phenomenon stemming from figures such as Tucker Carlson and Ben Shapiro today. So when co-creator Eric Newman approached him with the part of Evan and asked him to record some dialogue to share with star Robert De Niro, Stevens got straight to it. “Sometimes you’re making a tape for an audition and it’s a whole process,” he explains. “Instead, I immediately hung up the phone, got on my laptop, and did this thing.”
