The lead in Ruben Östlund’s Palme d’Or-winner Triangle Of Sadness will soon enter the ring with Zac Efron in family wrestling drama Iron Claw, and he recently wrapped on Steve McQueen’s World War II drama Blitz. Yet despite his burgeoning status, the actor is still making daring choices and working with first-time directors. As is the case with the upcoming Scrapper, a London-set, surrealism-meets-social-realism drama from debut filmmaker Charlotte Regan. He tells Empire what’s driving his decision-making.
We’ve recently seen you as a grumpy model in Triangle Of Sadness and as Richard Attenborough in See How They Run. Now you’re a young dad trying to make amends in Scrapper. What drew you to that role?
