PLOT In early 1970s London, working-class teenager Steve Jones (Wallace) performs with his future Sex Pistols bandmates on stolen musical equipment in the hopes of scoring their big break. But despite moving further into the spotlight, Jones can’t shake off the trauma of his past.
IT’S CLOSING IN on 30 years since Danny Boyle made his feature debut with Shallow Grave, and yet the filmmaker shows absolutely no signs of slowing down when it comes to his propulsive method of filmmaking. Within the opening minutes of Pistol, a six-part adaptation of Steve Jones’ biography, a young version of the drummer is swaying, trance-like, behind David Bowie’s (alleged) microphone in an empty venue.
