There was anger this week after a wood sculpture carved from a felled tree was demolished in an act of wanton vandalism.
The sculpture of a deer was carved by wood sculptor Mark Bunyan of Lamlash from a gnarly Scots pine he got from the landowner last year, after it was felled by Southern and Scottish Energy as it was close to a power line.
However last Saturday, to his dismay, Mark found the sculpture, in a remote site on Lamlash hill, had been smashed up and wrecked. He does not know when the attack took place but said: ‘The timescale is a difficult one but the tracks/footprints on the banking up to it were pretty fresh, maybe a few days old.’
