ArtReview

Jan/Feb 2026 In the January & February 2026 issue, ArtReview presents its annual Future Greats special, in which it asks artists and writers to nominate someone they feel is doing work that deserves more attention: artists to look out for in the years to come. Under the coverline ‘Life Outstrips Our Vocabulary’ (a quote from sometime ArtReview contributor John Berger, taken here as an argument for why one might look to art as a way to describe and perhaps understand the world), this edition highlights the work of six artists and collectives, from Asia, Africa, Europe and North and South America. The issue also includes profiles of the artists Emilija Škarnulyte and Berenice Olmedo; an evaluation of the posthuman present through the practices of three artists; an annotated extract of A Square’s (Edwin A. Abbott) 1884 text Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions, columns on Black cultural value and the coming crisis in museology; reviews of current exhibitions from around the world; and a look at new books, from the latest English translation of Geetanjali Shree to the (invented) love letters of Jacques Lacan; and a comic strip by Woshibai.
