KEEP MOVING
★★★★
The last Madness album of their first incarnation to feature Mike Barson, it’s not exactly hard to tell something was amiss. You wouldn’t want every Madness album to be so melancholic but, as a mostly one-off, Keep Moving is wonderfully unsettling. One Better Day and Prospects are among their finest ballads, while even the chirpy Waltz Into Mischief carries a strong anti-racism message. Barson’s infectious playing on Brand New Beat ensures he left on a high on an undervalued album worth investigating in this vinyl reissue.
