Small world
The iPad mini 7 isn’t a revolutionary update of the mini 6 (released in 2021 and reviewed in Issue 617), but its under-the-bonnet improvements make it a significantly better tablet. At first glance it looks and feels pretty much identical, with the same four speakers, volume buttons, a lone USB-C port and a power button/touch ID sensor, while measuring 195x135x6.3mm and weighing 293g. That makes it small and light enough to carry around with ease, though still larger than a smartphone. Build quality is as high as you’d expect, with a rigid aluminium case that can’t be flexed.
