THE ARK IN SPACE

HAVING INADVERTENTLY GIVEN THE HELMIC regulator quite a twist, Harry Sullivan’s first excursion in the TARDIS takes him a bit further than the intended brief trip to the Moon.

The ship materialises aboard Nerva, a vast and seemingly deserted space station. Overcoming an automated defence system, the Doctor’s exploration reveals that the station contains the cryogenically suspended remnants of humanity. As Sarah Jane Smith unwittingly becomes a subject of the cryogenic suspension process, the Doctor and Harry find that a number of power cables have been sheared through, interfering with the automatic systems and leaving the human crew in suspended animation for far longer than the proposed 5,000 years.

About Doctor Who Magazine

“Space: the final frontier. Final, because it wants to kill us...” The TARDIS doesn’t just travel through time – stories set in space have been an essential part of Doctor Who for six decades. The inhospitable void between the stars has served as the backdrop to epic space operas and nerve-racking thrillers, while harbouring some of the most dangerous adversaries the Doctor has ever encountered. This lavish publication navigates a revealing course through the space lanes of Doctor Who, with exclusive interviews, rare images, and guides to some of the most memorable episodes.
