Traditionally, we tend to browse through our photos according to when they were taken. This means we have to rely on our memory of an event to find specific images. But thanks to the iPhone’s ability to geotag photos and videos, we can find assets according to where they were shot as an alternative to when. For example, if we want to access recent holiday snaps we can use Photo’s Places option to see clusters of images on a map. This is a fun and efficient way to stir up memories of our holiday. Some cameras (such as many digital SLRs) don’t have this geotagging feature. Fortunately you can manually add a location to a photograph so that it also appears in the Places map.
Photos taken on an iPhone have GPS data that plots each snap on a map in the Photos app
