My ‘Cara’ potatoes this year have been extremely large but have been got at by baby slugs - several found with their heads buried. It has been suggested that I put slug pellets in the hole when planting out my seed potatoes.
EMMA SAYS The slugs you have found are soil-dwelling keeled slugs and because they are in the soil they are protected from any normal form of slug control.
Pellets are not approved for use in the way you describe and so I’m not permitted to recommend that you put them around your spuds at planting and in any case, being designed for use on the surface I think they would break down very quickly and would be of limited use.
