Ever since it was started by Bright Eyes’ Mike Mogis, Saddle Creek has been associated with folk and Americana. Universally tipped, try anything quintet Disq are changing that, with their new album Collector a scuzzily infectious set that hits a sweet spot between Pavement and Weezer.
“Saddle Creek is known for a continuous sound, but it’s great they’re shaking up the folk thing,” notes singer/guitarist Isaac deBroux- Slone. “We’re an outlier for how diverse they’re becoming.” Bassist Raina Bock adds: “Saddle Creek is the type of community label you don’t think really exists. Before we’d even officially signed, a bunch of their artists sent us some really sweet messages.”
