‘Birdsong and daff odils: my two favourite heralds of spring,’ says author and photographer Georgianna Lane. Her work captures the floral side of cities as a ‘photographic meditation, seen through my own shade of rose-coloured glasses’, such as this image from her book, New York In Bloom (Abrams Image, £13.99). ‘I start at daybreak as a dawn chorus rings out from the uppermost perches of trees and buildings. Robins, wrens, woodpeckers, even owls – these all inspire my visual verses,’ she writes.
