In Kenya, photographers Jeremy Tan and Ella Dickinson captured the resilience, strength and courage of young people living in poverty. Working alongside the child development charity, Compassion UK, their Any Girl exhibition tells the story of 10 young women, including 16-year-old Rachael from rural Mashuru (above). It captures the struggles they face and the joys they share, not just with each other, but with any girl, anywhere. ‘Girls and boys are not equal in my world and a woman’s role is to bring up their children,’ Rachael says. ‘I think girls should find their confidence through education and working hard at school. That is why my goal is to be a teacher.’
Experience their stories at the free Any Girl exhibition at G11, Oxo Tower Wharf on London’s South Bank from 12-16 October.
