“Wherever I’ve lived, the key to happiness has been creating, or joining, a community”

From protecting each other from African wildlife, to supporting women in business, coach Tamsin Acheson knows community is at the heart of a successful life

During my life, I’ve been part of many communities. My father was a headteacher, so I went to various schools, depending on his job, including boarding school at one point. I’m used to fitting in and forming relationships quickly.

In 2003, I moved to Botswana where I lived on an island in the middle of the Okavango Delta. There, the need for community spirit was more about survival than anything else. We had to look out for each other, whether we liked it or not; surrounded by wild animals, you join forces against the scarier things!
