Class 777 introduction enters next phase TEMPORARY changes and cancellations to some Merseyrail services on the Ormskirk, Southport and Hunts Cross routes became effective from March 6, to allow for driver training on the system’s new Stadler-built Class 777 units. From the same date, a full timetable was reinstated on the Kirkby route – the first on which the new trains entered service, the inaugural working having taken place on January 23. All diagrams to and from Kirkby are now booked for operation by Class 777s.
Manager sought for Allerton depot NORTHERN is in the process of considering applications for the role of manager at its Allerton depot on Merseyside, which is the base for its Class 319, 323, 331 and 769 trains. Situated close to Liverpool South Parkway station, around a quarter of the company’s entire fleet of 360 units are maintained there. The successful candidate will be responsible for a workforce of 150 people at the 12.5 acre site, which is currently undergoing modernisation. Northern director of fleet Iain Burnett said:“We’re looking for a strong, inspiring and collaborative leader with the confidence and credibility to help steer the vision we have for Allerton.”
