A FORMER Manchester Ship Canal Railway locomotive, which has been on display in the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway’s (KWVR) Oxenhope exhibition shed for several years, is now being returned to steam.
Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0T MSC 31 Hamburg (679/1903), has been sold to another KWVR member and is now being stripped down for overhaul at Haworth. Hauled down to Haworth Yard in November, the loco has had its cab, tanks and boiler removed.
Areplacement firebox is to be fitted –the current one being life expired. The locomotive will also be lifted for a full motion and axlebox overhaul. It is intended that the engine will be given MSC black livery at first, with a further repaint into two tone green later.
