Derailment to result in closure of Old Patagonia Express line?
Charter train incident may lead to long-distance narrow gauge line’s partial abandonment.
THE derailment of a steam charter train on the famous 750mm gauge La Trochita (which literally translates as ‘the little gauge’), better known as‘The Old Patagonia Express’ route in Southern Argentina on November 11, may mark the end of operations on part of the 423km (263 mile) route which was built in stages from 1923 to 1945.
