MAGPIES CHAMPION DISPLAY
Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy saw his side brushed aside by rampant Newcastle and then backed the Toon Army for the title. Ayoze Perez scored twice as the Magpies eased to a 3-0 win at St James’ Park. Matt Ritchie also got on the scoresheet as Rafa Benitez’s men ran over the Tractor Boys. It made it five straight Championship wins for Newcastle and extended their lead at the top of the table to three points. “We’ve lost to the champions,” said McCarthy. “If you see a better side than that this year, I’ll be very surprised.
