In issue 415 of Woodturning magazine we have lots for you to enjoy, beginning with our Guest Editor, George Watkins, who welcomes you to the issue; and turns a unique box with two lids.

In Projects, Mike Stafford turns a decorative crab tenderiser; inspired by his travels, Andrew Potocnik makes a domed box; Andy Coates creates a beautiful bottle with a ball-topped stopper; Sue Harker shows you how to turn a unique holder for a church candle; James Duxbury uses his ‘Dux chuck’ to shape an off-centre three-sided bowl; Tinka Veldhuis completes her cryptex project; John Hawkswell uses contrasting timbers to create a lamp base; Mark Palma turns a selection of occasional tables and plant stands; and Rick Rich makes an embroidery frame.

In our Techniques section, Richard Findley compares the techniques of making end-grain and cross-grain boxes; Jason Mosseri uses a pole lathe to turn chair legs and stretchers; and Kurt Hertzog answers readers’ questions.

In Features, Andy Coates meets husband and wife turning team Ian and Victoria Davenport who have perfected the art of working together; we showcase stunning examples of artistic turning from the Inside the Box exhibition; and Pete Moncrieff-Jury weighs up the pros and cons of big vs small shows.

We also have a sneak peek at our next issue, updates from the turning community and news from the Worshipful Company of Turners.

Woodturning

Excellent magazine. I like how they have the plans and instructions for different projects.
Great how to and helpful ideas.
Only thing I would like to see is to have the dimensions in inches besides the millimeters for us nonmetric users... ??
