EDITOR’S LETTER
Dear Reader
There’s a common misconception – especially among our friends and families – that the life of a writer is essentially idle, endless cups of coffee, staring into space and watching cat videos on YouTube. For many of us that impression might seem alarming accurate, at least from outward appearances, even though we as writers know about the thought processes – the plot details, the character interrogations, the search for just the right phrase – bubbling away under the surface. Apart from that constructive ‘writing time’ though, how often do you allow yourself to daydream? Our time these days is overflowing with distractions and time-thieves, some useful, some not so much, from 24-hour cable TV and Netflix boxsets to permanently connected smartphones and tablets.
