MotoGP goes to some pretty special places, but the addition of the Red Bull Ring to the calendar proved to be a real feast for the eyes. Competing against Phillip Island’s glittering coastline, Mugello’s pretty position and the forest settings of Sachsenring and Brno, the Red Bull Ring has jumped to the top of the stunning standings with its location in the Styrian Alps. Its location lends itself to all sorts of pretty pictures – like this one! Formerly the frighteningly fast Osterreichring, then the Tilke designed A1-Ring, the €70m revised track (funded by sales of the fizz) didn’t find too many fans in the paddock on its debut– unless you were riding a Ducati – and the speed of the track has been dramatically reduced from its heyday, but we welcome the new circuit and all of its scenery. KTM flew and bussed over loads of its employees to see the unveiling of its GP bike, so when the RC16 hits the track in anger next year expect the locals to go barmy – why not go and join them in their celebrations? Speaking of the KTM, Al was over at the launch and got the low down of the new bike, the fab track and the special drinking haunts. Check out what was repeatable overleaf – plus lots more sexy images…
