“Remind me, which way’s north again?”
All points of the compass
I find myself doubting the answer given as to why dogs circle before deciding where to park their breakfasts (May, p87). Not only does the magnetic alignment theory sound implausible, but as any dog owner knows, their dogs’ noses are going overtime as they decide.
Is it not more plausible that they’re aligning themselves with prevailing winds, as their wolf ancestors might have done to give them as much warning as possible while indisposed?
