Zilina announced liquidation last year – now they’re vying for the title
At the end of March last year, media outlets across Europe reported that Zilina had become the first financial victims of the coronavirus pandemic – but the story took an unexpected twist.
The club had previously been seven-time champions in Slovakia, winning the league as recently as 2017.
They had even had a brief foray into the Champions League group stage in 2010, facing Chelsea before being hammered 7-0 by Marseille.
