...Tunbridge Wells, subbuteo came home – only for the Italians to whisk it away again
In our last issue, we brought you news of the inaugural Football Manager World Cup – this time we fittingly go retro with the Subbuteo World Cup.
No, this isn’t 1994: subbuteo came home recently, with the latest edition of the World Cup held in Tunbridge Wells, the location where the legendary game first originated in 1946.
Subbuteo World Cups have gathered together the globe’s best table-top flickers since the 1970s – the tournament was held every year between 2000 and 2018, taking place in such glamorous locations as Malta, Gibraltar, Madrid, Porto, Vienna and, er, Birmingham.
