Air-Style VW Magazine  |  Autumn 2024
Welcome to Issue 15 of Air-Style VW Magazine. Summer may be a distant memory, with dark mornings and evenings here in the UK, but we have an issue to brighten up your day, bursting at the seams with an amazing selection of vehicles and owner’s.
Our cover subject is first class! A former German Post Bus is exciting enough, but as the oldest surviving such vehicle in the world, it’s quite a story. Read all about how owner Myles Yarney put his stamp on this fantastic piece of history. If originality is your thing, you’ll enjoy Simon Greaves’ ’59 Beetle which is just about as original as they come. Air-Style’s resident Bus expert David Eccles tells us how the VW Transporter established a reputation as the perfect vehicle for overland adventures with a fascinating look back in time. More Transporter history as Richard Copping takes us back to both 1958 and 1967 in his ever popular ‘Brochure Line’ series. Regular maintenance is an essential part of classic VW ownership. In our ‘How to’ feature Air-Style’s Sam Jeffery shows you how to make sure your brakes are up to the job. A Karmann Ghia is a thing of beauty, and Robin Hearne’s ’71 convertible is no exception. Read about how ‘a bit of tidying up’ turned into a full restoration – a story I’m sure many of us can relate to! If Buggies are your thing, you get two for the price of one with a Buggy-mad family’s love for these iconic vehicles. A family love of VWs also comes shining through in a feature that was kept as a surprise for owner Stuart Johnston. Read about how a camping trip to the Isle of Wight resulted in a ’79 Devon Moonraker Bay becoming part of the Johnston family. We have another great round-up of life in the low lane from UTA, the latest news from the Wolfsburg Bus and in ‘On the Ground’ we hear more about the Seasiders Dub Club. A huge thank you to the many of you who sent in your ‘Readers Rides’ pictures. We had an overwhelming response! Can spot your pride and joy? Enjoy! Spencer, Jon, Sam and Laura

Like many great origin stories - the idea of Air-Style VW Magazine was conceived in a pub. Four like-minded friends knew that they weren't alone in their love for all things Volkswagen. They felt there was a gap in the market for the many that shared their passion, and believed that they could provide a service that speaks to the people in love with the cars, vans, music and lifestyle that makes the VW fandom so unique. Throughout the various pub meetings that followed, the premise grew from a concept into a fully functioning business plan. Their mission was simple… to provide VW enthusiasts with a dedicated publication in which they can learn more about their beloved brand, and share their experiences with other VW devotees.
Fast forward to today, and Air-Style VW Magazine has surpassed expectations. Proud to pair their own passion with fellow VW enthusiasts - Air-Style VW’s success has stemmed from the creators being genuine fans of the brand. Each issue is packed with a combination of car based content and real life stories that educate, inform, and inspire.
