IN RECENT YEARS,
Sam Shepherd – aka Floating Points – has been a difficult artist to pin down. Originally emerging out of the UK dance music scene in the heady days of post-dubstep eclecticism, his recent projects have increasingly seen Shepherd looking beyond the confines of electronic music; expanding his live show to incorporate a full band of accomplished musicians, collaborating with the late Pharoah
Sanders on a stunning jazz LP and, most recently, scoring
Mere Mortals,
a piece created with the San Francisco Ballet.
