We love August
As you can see from the picture – and from your garden – August is a month for bright colours. It is the technicolour dreamcoat of summer, as all the annuals that you so lovingly nursed in the spring (and protected from the ravages of rampaging molluscs) are repaying their debt and brightening your garden. Your borders, baskets, containers and troughs should be brimming with pep and zing. The dahlias are kicking off and the late-flowering perennials are just beginning to stretch their limbs. Many people may be on a distant beach somewhere but, personally, I would rather be in my garden.
