Garden visitors
The pumpkin bird feeder article on your website inspired me to make one from one of my stored pumpkins. It has been visited by lots of birds while snow was freezing other areas of my garden. With a constant supply of sunflower hearts and lots of patience I captured this great image.

We came back from holiday last July to a very overgrown greenhouse. The tomatoes and courgettes had grown like mad all over the path. I was so surprised to move a seed tray and find this little newt underneath. We have a large pond, so maybe that is what attracted it. I replaced the seed tray with a frog hotel that my sister made. The newt stayed for two weeks and then disappeared. I do hope it comes back.

Pumpkin skins make colourful bird feeders and can also keep snow off the seeds
WE SAY: Yes, newts love garden ponds, as well as log piles and open compost heaps.
