Sarah and Kenneth Grant have set out to retrace a section of Operation Gunnerside, a WW2 Special Operations Executive mission in Norway. They will follow the route taken by the original saboteurs through the Hardangervidda National Park, aiming to reach the Vemork hydroelectric power plant on the 82nd anniversary of the successful conclusion of the SOE mission.
Sarah said, ‘The bravery and resilience of those original saboteurs was, in part, supported by the training they received from British allies in Scotland. To stay focused on the training (and the trip) in the cold, dark winter, we decided to set up a fundraising page to raise funds for our Arctic Warriors, the men who defend these physically challenging environments today. It won’t be easy (or pleasant), but we are looking forward to the challenge!’
