Inspired by nature, wood fragrances can be warm and sensual or earthy and andE aromatic. There isn’t a single wood note that perfumers weave into scents; they draw on a palette of ingredients, nts, such as creamy sandalwood or smoky guaiac wood and a long list of materials derived from wood, including roots, resins and moss.
This spring, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to new perfumes. Putting paid to the misconception that woody fragrances are masculine, Anine Bing’s Rose Wood eau de parfum, [(5) £130 for 100ml; visit aninebing. com from 21 March] combines bright florals and a smoked rose note with sandalwood. “The long-awaited start of spring in Scandinavia is a memory I have cherished since childhood,” says founder Anine, who grew up in Sweden. “The city reawakens with the start of a new season and the renewed sense of self that follows. For me, Rose Wood captures this nostalgic sentiment.”
