NICK OWEN
BBC presenter diagnosed with prostate cancer
The BBC presenter Nick Owen has revealed that he has prostate cancer. Nick, 75, has undergone surgery since being diagnosed with the “extensive and aggressive” cancer in April. “That was probably the worst day of my life, or certainly one of them,” he said.
Nick has been supported by wife Vicki, who has been “by my side all the time through this”, as well as by former Good Morning co-host Anne Diamond, 68, who is herself living with breast cancer. He hopes to be back on screen this autumn.
Nick is encouraging other men to get checked. “I’d like to say thank you to all of you who’ve got in touch via social media,” he said in an online video. “I gather that loads of men already around the country are now seeking prostate tests.”
