Much-loved figures from sport and the arts – plus the King’s top doctors –named in New Year’s Honours list
Keely Hodgkinson has capped a golden year with an MBE in the New Year Honours. The Olympic 800m champion, who said it was “amazing to be recognised”, was named in the annual list alongside stars including Myleene Klass and Carey Mulligan.
Stephen Fry was knighted, as was former England football manager Gareth Southgate, while Happy Valley star Sarah Lancashire received a CBE and Olympic heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson was awarded an MBE.
Trial & Retribution star Anne-Marie Duff was named an OBE and TV presenter and gardener Alan Titchmarsh was awarded a CBE, while Tracy Beaker author Jacqueline Wilson was made a Dame Grand Cross for services to literature.
