We don’t mean to be sticklers for routine, but it pays to be diligent when it comes to our dental hygiene, according to the experts.
With National Smile Month starting on 12 May, what better time to listen to neuroscientist Dr Andrew Huberman? He has devoted a whole podcast to the subject, stressing the critical role that oral health plays in body and brain health, with the main take-home being that we should brush (and floss) twice a day. He says that saliva remineralises our teeth thanks to its alkaline pH, but every time you eat or drink something, the pH in your mouth is lowered for around 20 minutes.
