Despite being as close to a vacuum as can be achieved within our galaxy, interstellar space is far from empty. Beyond the Sun’s surrounding bubble, which is created by the solar wind, interstellar space is defined as the region of space that i no longer impacted by the outflow of material from surrounding stars.
