Coral borders

Taken by an astronaut aboard the International Space Station (ISS), this image shows a portion of the 1,000-milelong fringing coral reefs off the coast of New Caledonia. The reefs can be seen as the brownish dividing line between the light blue shallow waters and the dark blue Pacific Ocean. It’s estimated that within the reefs are around 9,300 marine species and 500 species of coral.
