So many people seem to settle for using the default ‘Note’ tone for Messages and Mail alerts on their iPhones and iPads that it is often hard to tell if the telltale ping is coming from your device or someone else’s. This is why it is good to take a few minutes out of your day to customise the ringtones and alert tones on your iOS/iPadOS device so that you don’t have to fumble around for your device unnecessarily. And did you know that there is a whole wing of the iTunes Store dedicated to tones? In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to change your sounds, grab and utilise new tones from the store and even tell you how to create your own in GarageBand. It is even possible to record sounds in Voice Memos and export them via GarageBand to your tones list. Come on, let’s get rid of that annoying ‘Note’ tone for good!
