Use hand gestures to control Apple Watch
Now, you don’t have to prod at the screen to control the features of your Watch
There are many reasons why you may want to control your Apple Watch without physically touching the screen. Perhaps you have limited motor functions or limb differences. Maybe you’re wearing gloves or you simply don’t want to draw attention to the fact that you’re controlling your Watch.
Whatever the reason, it’s entirely possible using a feature called AssistiveTouch. Introduced in watchOS 8, it makes use of the accelerometer, optical heart rate sensor and gyroscope to pick up on gestures that you make with your fingers and fist. It can be used to navigate your Watch and even make it easier to make purchases with Apple Pay. There are customisation options so you can tailor it to your own tastes.
