Wireless networks have been supported in macOS for a long time, and it is easy to assume you know everything there is to know. It is true that some things are the same as they always have been, but also, some things have changed and there are new features too. Wi-Fi is slowly evolving over time and with each new version of macOS comes new features, like limiting IP address tracking to make web browsing and email more private. Sometimes features are dropped and we can see this with Network Utility. Run it these days and it tells you to use Terminal instead. Let’s take a fresh look at Wi-Fi and network settings in macOS.
