iDrum magazine: Never miss a beat  |  December 2015
Welcome to our December issue, and we’re ending the year with an absolute cracker. We caught up with our cover star, Jojo Mayer, as he toured the UK with his band Nerve for the first time. Always an honest and intellectual speaker, Jojo gives us his views on the demise of culture in our cities and why he prefers to turn away from the big names and stick to his own music, pushing the boundaries his way.
We’re pleased to see Nigel Glockler back behind his drum set with Saxon – he had a close brush with the Grim Reaper last year but, happily, has returned to gigging with his band, who are still going strong after 40 years. Richard Jupp is setting up an innovative drum school during some downtime from Elbow, and we also meet up with Louise Bartle who has recently joined Bloc Party. Meanwhile, Brad Webb tells us all the latest from his varied gigs with Jamie Cullum and Paolo Nutini and harks back to early days with Amy Winehouse.
‘Where’s the competition page?’ we hear you ask. It’s behind you! Actually, no, it’s where it usually is, and this month you have the chance to win a Gretsch Silver Series side snare. Have you been naughty or nice this year? Feast your eyes on our Christmas gift guide, which aims to fill your boots (or stockings) with the best drum gear around. Plus, there’s guest tuition from Tom Meadows, news, reviews, our regular line up of top tutors and plenty more…
Wishing you season’s greetings for a happy Christmas time,
Gemma, editor
