Former dealer Jannine Chamberlain travels from Leicestershire to come “every year” to Newark. She bought furniture including a dresser (left) from Chris Munn of Southbank Antiques.
Frank Sage deals in pottery, especially Doulton ware such as this vase by Eliza Summace c.1880, eschewing the internet because “all my stock is breakable” in favour of fairs like Newark. Pieces sold at Newark included a c.1926 Worcester candle snuff to a US buyer.
Though the organisation IACF is best known by its acronym, it’s hard to forget what the initials stand for. AA road signs guiding drivers into the Newark showground emphasise the word ‘international’ and the fair is known for its ability to attract overseas trade buyers.
